Massage for Your Organs? Why Visceral Manipulation Could Be a Game-Changer!
What is it?
This is a manual therapy technique involving gentle, and specific forces placed on the tissue, encouraging proper mobility and function. Inflammation from infections, trauma, repetitive movements, diet, emotional stress, and other factors can cause tissues to lose their normal mobility. We wont often feel restrictions in our viscera; your body will let you know through other symptoms.
With visceral manipulation we work with your body and organ systems to help support and restore function and mobility
What organs an we treat?
Stomach & Esophagus
Restrictions in the esophagus can cause a decrease in cervical and thoracic extension and rotation.
Restrictions in the stomach can cause pain in the left shoulder and neck. Other reasons for stomach treatment include: Repeated issues with the 5th and/or 6th rib, GERD or acid reflux, and Hiatal Hernia. The stomach cannot be treated in the case of acute infection, ulcer, or surgical intervention such as gastric bypass or stapling.
Liver
Indications for treatment of the liver could include: digestive issues such as gas and bloating, right sided lower thoracic or rib pain, right cervical or shoulder discomfort, sciatica on the right side, as well as night hyperthermia (hot at night) and hormonal problems.
The liver cannot be treated in cases of acute or systemic infection, advanced liver disease (cirrhosis) or recent surgery.
Urinary Bladder
Restrictions in the bladder can cause pain in the lower back or sacroiliac joints, pain and stiffness in the hips, pelvic misalignments, inguinal discomfort and urinary symptoms such as stress incontinence, full incontinence, nocturnal incontinence and urge incontinence. Treatment of the bladder can help support natural function and mobility in the cases of repeated UTIs.
The bladder cannot be treated in cases of pregnancy or those with an IUD.
Large Intestine
Indications for treatment of the large intestine include: low back pain and reduced mobility of the lumbar spine, sciatica, joint pain in the lower extremity, poor circulation or edema in lower limbs as well as constipation.
